Why is Phoenix Suns' Chris Paul Hesitant to Talk About Their 3-1 Lead Against LA Clippers?

The LA Clippers lost to the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, despite putting up their best defensive performance. However, it was their offense that failed to come through during the last few minutes of the game, and it was game over at 84-80. This is the first time a team has gotten a 3-1 lead against the Clippers, but Chris Paul is in no mood to talk about it.

Chris Paul doesn't want his hopes up

The Clippers are now two games behind the Phoenix Suns and have stepped back further in their attempt to reach the NBA Finals. While the blame is being put on the referees with bad calls, what's done is done. Apparently, it was Phoenix's foul game because of which LA was unable to tie the game in the final minute.

What added to their bad luck was Paul George missing another free-throw with 3.2 seconds left and a failed attempt to grab a rebound after it.

Now, for most Suns fans, this game has come as a sigh of relief. No other team has been able to get a 3-1 lead against the Clippers until the Suns. But that doesn't mean Chris Paul will get in over his head.

When asked how he feels about their comfortable lead, he blatantly said, "Yeah, I don't want to talk about 3-1. Not had a good experience with that."

Throwback to Clippers vs Rockets 2015

When Chris Paul was part of the LA Clippers, their end to the 2015 playoffs was one of the most disappointing ones of his career. During that season, the Clippers were up 3-1 against Houston Rockets only to lose the next three straight games.

This had them eliminated from the Western Conference Semifinals. So, one can understand Chris' skepticism.

But the Phoenix Suns have proven themselves this season. Being one of the biggest threats in the West, it is the Clippers who should be worried. However, it's good if Chris and the rest of the team don't get too overconfident.

If they remain grounded, they are likely to work harder to finish the series sooner. Do you think the Clippers can turn this into a 2015 playoff situation? Or are the Suns too good for that to happen?
