UFC Fight Night: Gane vs Volkov- Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Danilo Marques: Prelims Prediction and Analysis

UFC light heavyweights Kennedy Nzechukwu and Danilo Marques will close out the preliminary card for UFC Fight Night: Gane vs Volkov. The card is chalked full of exciting bouts, however, there are definitely some fights that are flying under the radar. Nzechukwu vs Marques is one of those bouts that the casual audience hasn't caught onto yet.

The light heavyweight division has gained traction with an active champion in Jan Blachowicz at the helm. There are several new contenders emerging from the woodwork, and both Nzechukwu and Marques want to enter the conversation. However, both fighters are just starting out in their UFC careers and have a long way to go to reach contention.

Nzechukwu, on a two-fight win streak, secured an emphatic KO over City Kickboxing standout, Carlos Ulberg. He's had two successful stints on Dana White's Contender Series and has been a force to be reckoned with. As 'The African Savage' has only lost one fight under the UFC banner to Paul Craig, fans consider him as a bright prospect.

Kennedy Nzechukwu has gone on a rampage since his third fight, stopping all but one of his opponents. If he cuts off the cage effectively, he'll be able to land power shots on his range-based opponent. However, getting trapped on the ground with Marques could be a recipe for disaster, much as the Paul Craig fight did.

Danilo Marques, on a four-fight win streak, has secured two victories under the UFC banner. He submitted Mike Rodriguez back in February via RNC. Now, securing another stoppage victory would propel him to new heights.

The 11-2 fighter is extremely well-sized for the division and is deceptively agile on the feet. Not to mention, he's a menace upon securing top control and uses his long reach effectively in creating separation. However, he'll have to be careful of Nzechukwu's explosiveness that can turn the lights off almost instantaneously upon impact.
