The governor of the Kenyan capital city, Nairobi, Mike Sonko, has stirred controversies after including a few small bottles of the cognac, Hennessy in his COVID-19 care packages to the people of Nairobi in Kenya.

According to Sonko, the addition of small bottles of Hennessy alcohol into care packages for his people, will serve as a "throat sanitizer."

He also claimed that the World Health Organisation, WHO, has confirmed that alcohol plays a major role in killing the coronavirus.

"I think from the research conducted by the World Health Organization and various organizations, it has been believed that alcohol plays a major role in killing the coronavirus," Sonko said in a video.

However, last month, the World Health Organization (WHO) clarified reports that alcohol cures coronavirus. The story which had gone viral on social media had left many people wondering the position of the health body on the issue.

Reacting to that, the World Health Organization said such a thing in untrue.
