'It's all about my new Mayegun title' – Wasiu Ayinde breaks silence on alleged affair with Alaafin's wife

Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde aka K1 De Ultimate, has debunked viral reports on the internet that he was having an affair with one of the young wives of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

A week ago, the internet was awash with reports that the singer who was recently installed as the Mayegun of Yorubaland was having an amorous relationship with Queen Badirat Ola Adeyemi popularly known as Queen Ola.

K1 reacted to the allegation on Sunday during a live Instagram session with the publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu. The live chat was monitored by Neusroom.

The 80-year-old Alaafin of Oyo has no fewer than seven wives and has recently become the center of internet discussion with his penchant for young ladies. 30-year-old Olori Ola who is at the center of controversy is one of the two youngest queens in the harem of Alaafin Adeyemi.

Reacting to the report, a visibly angry K1 said it is sacrilegious and disrespectful for anyone to drag the name of the monarch into such scandal aimed at smearing his (Wasiu's) image.

He said "whoever started this very malicious speculation are enemies of a good society. You do not say because you have hatred for someone and in the corner of your house you just fabricate a story to pull them down.

"I'm a responsible Yoruba man from a honourable background, I have a good understanding of culture and tradition, it will be a taboo for me to ever imagine such in my head when I am not under a spell. It is not possible."

He continued: "I don't even know all the Queens and the one in question neither do I have access to any of his wives. The only time I saw them largely was during my coronation as Mayegun."

The singer fingered an Ireland-based blogger and internet sensation, Esther Aboderin aka Esabod, as the mastermind of the allegation and said he had been warned severally in the past to be carefully in dealing with her.

He added: "The speculation was borne out of sheer jealousy for my coronation as the Mayegun of Yoruba land and we've been seeing the detractors disagreeing with Esabod who is the mastermind. Nothing like that and it will never happen."

The Olori has also denied the allegation and wondered why Esabod, who she identified as the originator of the allegation, made up such lies about her.

The Alaafin of Oyo installed the Fuji music legend as the Mayegun of Yoruba land in January 2020. His coronation has attracted criticisms from some quarters, coming a year after the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Aare Gani Adams installed popular legal practitioner Kayode Ajulo as the Mayegun of Yoruba land in January 2019.

An Islamic cleric, Alfa Saidi Shittu, in a social media post, also condemned the musician for accepting the title. He wondered if Wasiu Ayinde would still attend this year's Hajj in Saudi Arabia after engaging in the traditional rites believed to have preceded his installation.
